A campaign website has been launched in support of Ann Buran-Vongher's quest for the Cleveland-Bernstein vacancy in the 9th Subcircuit. That's a link to the campaign website in the preceding sentence; a link has been added to this site's Sidebar as well.
Buran-Vongher was admitted to the practice of law in Illinois in 1989, according to ARDC. Her campaign bio notes that Buran-Vongher spent the bulk of her career in the Public Defender's Office. She was assigned to the Second Municipal District in Skokie for the last 16 years of her tenure as a PD before leaving, in 2021, to enter private practice. She continues to represent defendants in criminal matters.
While in the PD's office, Buran-Vongher served as a union steward for AFSCME, "involved in handling grievances for various attorneys as well as contract negotiations with Cook County," according to her campaign bio. Her campaign bio also describes her as a "fierce advocate" for animal rescue organizations. This is her first campaign for election to the Cook County bench.
