The United Hellenic Voters of America have announced endorsements in several contests in Cook and surrounding counties in anticipation of this month's primary (for a complete list of the UHVA's endorsements, click here).
In the race for the Illinois Supreme Court, the UHVA endorses Justice Jesse G. Reyes. For the Appellate Court, the group encourages a vote for Justice Michael B. Hyman (Neville, Jr. vacancy).
In contested countywide races for the Circuit Court, the UHVA has announced support for Elizabeth "Beth" Ryan (Coghlan vacancy), Suzanne Therese McEneely (Larsen vacancy), and Heather Anne Kent (O'Brien vacancy).
The UHVA also endorses Pamela "Pam" Stratigakis (Axelrood vacancy) and Judge Michael Alan Strom (Luckman vacancy) in the 9th Subcircuit. In the 10th Subcircuit, the UHVA's choices are John Garrido (McGing vacancy) and Judge Daniel Alexander Trevino (O'Brien vacancy).
Heather Mulligan Begley is the UHVA's choice for the Griffin vacancy in the 15th Subcircuit.
In the race for the Kulys Hoffman vacancy in the 13th Subcircuit, one of only two judicial races in Cook County in which both the Democrats and Republicans have fielded at least one candidate, the UHVA did not endorse a Democrat. It did, however, endorse Gary W. Seyring for the Republican nomination in that race.
In other races of likely interest to FWIW readers, the UHVA has proclaimed its support for Bill Conway for the Democratic nomination for Cook County State's Attorney (supporting Chris Pfannkuche on the Republican side) and Michael M. Cabonargi for Clerk of the Circuit Court.
