Charlie Meyerson's Chicago Public Square had this yesterday, but it's not
the first time I've been a day late... or, for that matter, a dollar short.

Mr. Leyhane, you've been conspicuously silent on the biggest judicial news story of the week, and that is the AJ committee's decision to postpone its short-list deliberations until after the March Primary.
Anyone with a scintilla of knowledge about Chicago politics knows why the short-list decision was punted until after the Primary.
I assume you've not reported it because you feared that the posting of comments by your astute readers would crash the web, and that comments on the decision would strongly be negative and scathing (except of course from the approximately 75 candidates on the AJ who are running for judge).
After the AJ committee announced that it would be deliberating this week and deciding upon the short-list, one can only assume that the phone lines to the Speaker's office were burning up.
The committee's decision to delay deliberations until after the Primary may not matter to 99.9% of the public, but to the .01% that see the decision for what it is, it truly is a low point in recent Cook County court history.
The committee cited SCR 67 (publicly endorsing or opposing a candidate for office) as its reason for the postponement, but anyone who believes that is likely eligible for SCR 758 status.
Is this unprecedented...a slated candidate withdrawing this close to the primary?
Is the deal that was cut unprecedented. Candidate A wins in 10, runner up gets AJ. Saltourus gets next appointment in 10 for helping to clear the field for the chosen ones. Nothing unprecedented about it in Chicago. The only ones who lose are those that play by the rules.
Another withdrawal in the 5th subcircuit----Eadie Daniels.
So true ...chicGo politics at its finest. All about $
