Justice Kilbride loses retention bid

Capitol Fax has this statement from Illinois Supreme Court Justice Tom Kilbride:

Illinois Supreme Court Justice Tom Kilbride Statement on Retention Race
Illinois Supreme Court Justice Tom Kilbride released the following statement regarding the results of his retention effort, in which he received support from a majority of voters but did not meet the 60 percent threshold required:
“Though votes continue to be counted, I am disappointed in the apparent outcome. I want to thank the voters of the Third Judicial District for twice placing their faith in me to uphold the sacred principles that guide our judicial system. Serving on the Illinois Supreme Court has been the honor and privilege of my lifetime, and I am proud of the legacy I will leave behind, including a court that is more open, transparent and accessible to all, regardless of economic means,” said Kilbride.

Illinois delivered a huge margin for the Biden Harris ticket, as expected. But the Third Judicial District is traditionally Republican and was again tonight. And Justice Kilbride could not overcome that.

Psssst, Mary Jane. Perhaps now is the time to go mend fences with Madigan. Or perhaps not.

Kilbride is a class act and I am disappointed he lost. I hope he is speedily appointed to the appellate court.

What are our names?

Toomin! Toomin! Toomin! Toomin! Toomin! Toomin!

Kenworthy! Kenworthy! Kenworthy! Kenworthy! Kenworthy!

Mahoney! Mahoney! Mahoney! Mahoney! Mahoney! Mahoney!

Wadas! Wadas! Wadas! Wadas! Wadas! Wadas! Wadas!

Jaccccccccckkkkkkkkkiiiiiiiiieeeeeee! You GO GIRL! Keep your crazy stuff up. The suburban people love it. Well, perhaps not Evanston, but we love it Oak Lawn and Palos.

Jacke "Lock 'Em Up" Portman-Brown also did remarkably well in (if not better) in the Mr. Greenwood and Sauganash neighborhoods than in Roseland, Englewood and Chatham. It's about time you whiny liberals learn that we like it when our black women from the hood of Englewood grow up to be proponents of no nonsense criminal reform. Sometime you need to lock 'em up. Even if they are your 8 year-old niece who has committed no crime. Perhaps Jackie can replace Bertina once she leaves the appellate court. Until then, Toomin is petitioning Evans to transfer Jackie Portamn to Juvenile Court so she can supplement tough love Kristal "I Am the BOMB" Rivers. These two will whip those juvenile thugs into submission.

Take that Toni Preckiwnkle, Paul Rosenfeld and Brendan Shiller. And Injustice Watch can go suck an egg too. We have even more delicious sammiches for you to eat in 2022. Hannah Jubeh is a political genius and will be running everyone's campaigns in 2022. Starting with Mary Jane's if Mary Jane is smart enough to hire Hannah.

Mary Jane has nothing to worry about if she uses Hannah. Nor do most of the 2022 Retention Class. Provided, again, that they use Hannah.

Wait. They do have one thing to confront: learn from the 2020 Class and not allow hysteria, paranoia and conflict of interest ruin an otherwise sure thing. Brendan Shiller and JAPAC are all smoke and no action. So is the 47th Ward. They couldn't get a Fair Tax passed or keep Jason Van Dyke's criminal defense lawyer -- Tammy Wendt -- from getting elected. So all of you can win too, PROVIDED that most of you get satisfactory bar ratings and don't grab someone -- strike that -- grab a WOMAN by her genitals or talk about grabbing female genitals ala Trump. Just ask Mauricio about that.

All of you will be retained by a range of 65% to 75%; 75-80% if your are female Irish, Black or Latina with obviously "strong" ethnic names. This stuff is not rocket science. That is true no matter how much Frank Calabrese, Mary Kay Dawson, Michalla Blaise, Brendan Shiller or Sean Tenner would lead you to believe otherwise. And Brendan Shiller and those other people in his law firm best out state court. Their nonsense is not welcome here anymore.

Sorry Patricia Fallon. You are just another person in the long annals of Cook County judicial election lore to fall and leave after an appointment. Some of them make a come back (Shapiro, Steffen). Perhaps you will too. We wish you the sincerest best of luck in your future judicial endeavors.

Not so fast, Buttfinger. Fallon and DiFranco are now within about 1500 votes (<1 pt.) of each other and closing fast, with thousands of more votes still outstanding and to be counted. If ultimate turnout is anything like it was four years ago (and it is expected to be higher, because it was in the rest of the country), Fallon should win by over 800 votes. Watch carefully, Buttfinger.
