A campaign website has been launched in support of Nickolas Pappas' 20th Subcircuit judicial bid. That's a link to the website in the preceding sentence; a link has also been added to the Sidebar on this site.
Licensed to practice law in Illinois since 1995, according to ARDC, Pappas currently operates his own practice. According to his campaign bio, Pappas worked as an analyst at Montgomery Ward's corporate headquarters for a few years before returning to law school. He was the first in his family to graduate from college, according to his campaign bio; his immigrant parents operated a restaurant and tavern "serving the employees from O’Hare Airport and the surrounding warehouses which operated 22 hours out of the day."
After completing law school, according to his campaign bio, Pappas went to work for the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, serving there eight years before returning to the private sector, joining a "midsized law firm in downtown Chicago" (Querrey & Harrow Ltd.). He left that position to care for his father in his father's last illness, thereafter setting up his current, solo practice. In his current role, according to his résumé, Pappas has worked as a Special State's Attorney representing the Illinois Department of Healthcare & Family Services in Title IV-D cases. He was also general counsel for Lakeland Healthcare Group, LLC from December 2012 until April 2015.
Pappas has previously applied to be an associate judge; this is his first campaign for election to the bench.
Too big to fail, and too big, even, to pay attention...
