Judge Leonard Murray is “Qualified” for the office of Circuit Court Judge. Judge Murray was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1974 and was appointed an Associate Judge in 2007. Judge Murray presides over a high volume courtroom and is well regarded for his knowledge of the law, integrity, good management skills, judicial demeanor, and fine temperament.
The Chicago Council of Lawyers says:
Hon. Leonard Murray was admitted to practice in 1974. He spent most of his career prior to becoming a judge as a sole practitioner. He was elected to be an Associate Judge in 2007. He is currently sitting in the First Municipal District presiding over jury trials. He presided over forcible entry and detainer cases for most of his judicial career. Since becoming a judge, he has received praise for his knowledge of the law and for his ability to manage high volume courtrooms. Lawyers note his ability and willingness to assist pro se litigants in an effective and appropriate manner. Some attorneys representing landlords report that Judge Murray favored tenants. Most attorneys say that he is fair to all parties. The Council finds him Qualified for the Circuit Court.
The Illinois State Bar Association says:
Leonard Murray was admitted to practice in 1974. He was elected as associate judge in 2007, assigned to the First Municipal Division presiding over jury trials. Prior to his selection as an associate judge, he had been in private practice handling a wide variety of cases with a number of jury trials and some appellate work. He is well-respected for his knowledge and receives generally positive remarks as a judge. In his prior assignment hearing forcible entry and detainer cases, he was praised for his ability to manage a high-volume call with many pro se litigants. He has been involved in many bar association activities. Judge Murray is found to be Highly Qualified for election to the Circuit Court.
