Nixon Peabody, in partnership with the Asian American Bar Association of Greater Chicago (AABA Chicago), the Chinese American Bar Association of Chicago (CABA), the Filipino American Lawyers Association of Chicago (FALA), the Japanese Bar Association of Chicago (JABA), and the Korean American Bar Association of Chicago (KABA), will host a judicial reception on Wednesday, March 7, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., in Nixon Peabody's Chicago office, 70 W. Madison. Welcome remarks will be offered by Cook County Circuit Court Chief Judge Timothy C. Evans at 6:00 p.m.
Event sponsors note that the reception celebrates the memory of the late Sandra R. Otaka, the first Asian American appointed to, and later elected to, the Cook County circuit bench, and her tireless advocacy to increase diversity in the judiciary as well as the need to promote Asian Americans to serve as elected officials locally, statewide, and/or nationally.
All are welcome to attend this event. Early-bird tickets (obtained before March 2) are $75 each. After that, tickets will cost $100 apiece. However, AABA, CABA, FALA, and KABA members will be admitted for a discounted price of $50 apiece. Judges and other elected officials will be admitted free. All attendees must register for the event at this webpage.
