A program entitled "Mandela: Struggle for Freedom" will be held on Sunday, August 22, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m., at the Illinois Holocaust Museum, 9603 Woods Drive, Skokie.
Persons may attend this event, co-sponsored by the Decalogue Society of Lawyers and the Cook County Bar Association, in person or virtually. Tickets are $30 each for in-person participants; the price to attend the virtual program is $15. Tickets for either option may be obtained at this page of the Decalogue website.
Program highlights include a talk by John Davis, the first journalist to interview Nelson Mandela after his release from prison in 1990 (CLE credit is pending for this portion of the program) and an awards presentation to attorneys Patrick Dankwa John (a former Decalogue president) and Harriet Parker (a former CCBA president) "for promoting solidarity between our communities to fight racism, anti-Semitism, and intolerance."
Persons unable to attend the August 22 event may still experience the Mandela: Struggle for Freedom exhibit at the Illinois Holocaust Museum through September 12, 2021.
