Multiple sources have confirmed that the Democratic Committeemen in the 4th Subcircuit met yesterday for an endorsement session, choosing to back Martin D. Reggi for the Riley vacancy and Caroline Jamieson Golden for the Davy vacancy.
In making these endorsements, 4th Subicircuit committeemen bypassed the judges appointed to those vacancies by the Illinois Supreme Court, David R. Navarro (Davy vacancy) and John Andrew O'Meara (Riley vacancy). Navarro is Golden's only opponent for the Davy vacancy. In addition to Reggi and O'Meara, Elizabeth Ciaccia-Lezza and Danny Collins are seeking the Riley vacancy.

Charlie Meyerson's Chicago Public Square had this yesterday, but it's not
the first time I've been a day late... or, for that matter, a dollar short.

Which Justice appointed O'Meara and Navarro? Oh, right, never mind. Next time take that phone call from the powers within the 3rd and 4th Subs. How do you think her countywide appointees will do this season?
Actually, I believe Justice Freeman appointed Judge O'Meara. Readers will correct me if I'm mistaken. I am quite certain that Justice Theis did appoint Judge Navarro in the 4th and Judge Stanton in the 3rd.
I can tell you, Anon, I get a lot of comments from persons who insinuate---heck, I get comments from persons who outright insist---that this justice, or that one, made an appointment at the direction and behest of this committeeman, or that one. So there's some strong sentiment out there for not taking phone calls from the "powers" before making an appointment.
So... is it sophisticated to ascertain who might be 'in line' for slating in a subcircuit before making an appointment... or is that skullduggery?
I'm just asking questions here....
never thought you were so naive jack. Freeman appointed O'Meara. Perhaps on paper.
The Tribune endorsement will be a big factor in this race. Neither of these two are very well known in the 4th. Also, why did the 4th committeemen wait so long to make a decision ? Golden has objections to her petitions pending - if they waited this long why not wait till the ruling ?
