Judge Michael Cabonargi appointed to 9th Subcircuit Tailor vacancy
The appointment is effective tomorrow; it will terminate December 4, 2028.
Cabonargi had been serving, pursuant to Supreme Court appointment, in the countywide Coghlan vacancy. He has served in the judiciary since June 2025.

Complete NOOB question - So Judge C gets appointed until 2028. What is the process thereafter for filling that seat? Will that be up in the Spring 2029 Municipal primaries / elections?
I suppose a lot of people -- normal people -- might think that the vacancy might not be filled until after the interim appointment expires. But that's not the way it works.
Pursuant to the Supreme Court's Order cited in the post here, Judge Cabonargi will serve in this vacancy until the first Monday in December 2028. That's when Judge Tailor's duly elected successor will be sworn into office and the vacancy will be vacant no more.
Persons interested in pursuing this vacancy would have to qualify for the Democratic primary (or, in theory, the Republican primary) which will be held (most likely) on March 21, 2028. The winner of the Democratic primary would advance to the November election where he or she would face off against any Republican candidate... only there's not likely to be any Republican candidate... there haven't been any Republican subcircuit candidates in recent election cycles.
The Illinois State Board of Elections will publish a 2028 election calendar soon enough, but if you were thinking of putting yourself forward as a candidate for 2028, you should already be looking for support and introducing yourself to anyone you can. If you haven't started yet, you should start NOW.
It's a deeply flawed system, but it is the one we have, and you will not succeed in your ambitions if you only complain about it. On this point, I am absolutely certain.
