Two new subcircuit positions opening up

This goes under the category of informed speculation.

At least I think it's informed. Informed to the best of my ability.

As of now, when this article is posted, the Illinois Supreme Court website shows only four vacancies available in the new Cook County Subcircuits, one each in Subcircuits 16, 17, 18, and 19.

However, two more Cook County associate judges recently announced retirement plans which, I believe, will shortly result in the posting of an "A" vacancy in the new 20th Subcircuit and a "B" vacancy in the 16th.

I make no warranties or guarantees in this regard. But I think this is going to happen. Stay tuned.

The ISBE website already has a vacancy listed in 20 -- Vacancy created by retirement of AJ Elizabeth Budzinski. Petitions for former Chicago Police Officer John Poulos have already been spotted on the streets for this vacancy. The last time Poulos was on trial in the Daley Center was in 2020 -- when a $1M verdict was entered against him after he shot a black teenage boy in the back in Englewood in 2014. We received a National Award from a law enforcement agency and an ovation from none other than Clint Eastwood himself. You can't make this stuff up. Poulos is boasting support from 2nd Ward Committeeman Tim Egan. Just when I though this election cycle was going to be boring. October will likely give us more surprises.

Kim Fox's First Assistant -- Risa Lanier -- just filed her campaign committee and is running for judge. No petitions seen on the street yet. Unknown if she is running in a subcircuit or countywide.

Another ASA looking to jump ship off of the SS Kim Foxx.
Risa Lanier, Kim Foxx's First Assistant, is running for Judge out of the 19th Subcircuit. Her website is live: www.risalanier.com.

Normally, being an ASA is a good thing to have on your resume if you are running in that part of the county. But with ties to Kim Foxx?

Who, if anyone, is O'Shea backing?

Anyone else running in the 19th Subcircuit? It has been pretty quiet out there and I haven't seen anyone circulating at all.

Lanier is the only game in town out there…for now.
