Four more employees of the Chief Judge's Office test positive for COVID-19

I've been pleased to report signs that the world is getting back to normal as COVID-19 vaccinations become more widely available.

But it's not over yet: The Office of the Chief Judge has today announced that four more employees have tested positive for COVID-19. A total of 310 employees of the Chief Judge's Office have now testied positive since the start of the pandemic, including 110 Juvenile Temporary Detention Center employees.

Of the four employees newly identified, one works for the Adult Probation Department at the Juvenile Courthouse, a second works for the JTDC, and two work for the Juvenile Probation Department. Of these last two, one was last in the Rolling Meadows Courthouse in mid-January, while the second was last at the Markham Courthouse earlier this month.

In addition to the 310 employees of the Chief Judge's Office, there have been 21 Cook County judges who have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, as well as 87 JTDC residents.

So this means Evans will be suspending jury trials again, right.

This is crazy. Of course, people are going to test positive. The world should not stop. People get the flu and live goes on. People get chicken pox and live goes on. The wholesale of shutting down all institutes because someone tested positive is crazy. It has to stop.

The judges are trying to stoke fear to justify why they have come up with no plan to reopen but can continue to be paid $200,000 per year. The one guy said “or you can just run” while I say “or you could just vote no on all of them in 2022.” My practice has taken huge hits and I don’t even know if I can pay my mortgage and send my kid to college. But these damn judges are loving it large taking ski trips and partying in their vacation homes.

Don't forget the judge are doing NOTHING. $200,000 to sit and do nothing. I could name so many names. . . and give specific examples, but Jack would just not print the comment.

Vote No on All of the Retention Judges has a nice sound to it. It might not be fair to some of them (in fact, it definitely won't be fair to those in certain divisions like Domestic or Juvenile), but First Municipal, Law and Chancery have been on complete shut-down mode since March 17, 2020 and haven't even tried to resume jury trials and won't try to until January 2022. I don't know about you, but the only ones making money during this pandemic are judges and insurance companies. So screw them both and FIRE the judges come November 2022.

I would like to fit all of the judges with electronic monitoring devices so that we can track their whereabouts between 8:00AM and 6:00PM Monday through Friday. That would reveal a lot of actionable data about why Cook County courts have not reopened while the rest of the state is resuming to business as usual. What a farce.
