A reader called last week to advise that Lisa A. Copeland will be a candidate in the March 2018 Democratic primary. That's a link to her campaign site in the preceding sentence. A link has also been added to the blog Sidebar.
Copland fell short in a bid for a 1st Subcircuit vacancy in 2016. Licensed as an attorney in Illinois since 1997, Copland is the proprietor of Lisa A. Copland, P.C., with an office on East Wacker Drive.
Copland's campaign is holding a fundraiser tomorrow, Monday, October 2, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at The Bar 10 Doors, 1251 (or 1259) W. Taylor (depending on which website one consults). Tickets are $150 each, and sponsorships are presumably still available (Supporter - $250, Sponsor - $500, or Host - $1,000). For more information, email lisacopland@gmail.com.
An anonymous reader left a comment mentioning that Assistant State's Attorney Kathaleen Lanahan is circulating petitions for a countywide vacancy. I haven't seen the petitions, so I won't mention the targeted vacancy, but I have found a campaign website; it is linked in the preceding sentence, and a link has also been added to the blog Sidebar.
Lanahan has been licensed as an attorney since 1993, according to ARDC. She began her legal career with the Board of Tax Appeals, but soon moved to the State's Attorney's Office where she is now, according to her campaign bio, the lead attorney in a felony courtroom.
Lanahan's campaign website touts two upcoming fundraisers, the first of these being set for Thursday, October 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Reilly's Daughter, 4010 W. 111th St., Oak Lawn. Tickets are $100 each, but sponsorships are available (Friend - $250, Supporter - $500, Sponsor - $1,000). For more information, email jack@lanahanforjudge.com.
A belated Happy Rockyversary to Rocket J. Squirrel and Bullwinkle J. Moose

Charlie Meyerson's Chicago Public Square had this yesterday, but it's not
the first time I've been a day late... or, for that matter, a dollar short.

As was noted in the 9/29/17 post regarding Jerry Barrido, Ms. Lanahan, Mr. Barrido and Ms. Vahey have joint petitions out. (Didn't take a picture of the petition to to send to you, not that I would have known how to send it in any case.)
And there is one more former candidate circulating for the John Turner vacancy in 2. November/December is going to be great once the rest come out into the sunshine to play.
Judge Davy, the comment referred to on the prior post came in from "Anonymous." (Anonymous is my most prolific commenter, by far.) I could corroborate the comment to the extent that I found the Lanahan website but, of course, unless the website disclosed the vacancy sought, I couldn't corroborate the other part of the comment (and if I missed it, I'm sorry, but I did look). I'm a lawyer, not a journalist, but I do remember from Journalism 101 that one is not supposed to print a story with unsourced (e.g. anonymous sources), uncorroborated assertions as if they were fact. The unofficial motto of the old City News Bureau -- "If your mother says she loves you, check it out" -- meant seek corroboration for every factual assertion that you print. (This may not be stressed as rigorously today, judging from what I see elsewhere on line -- but this is my blog, and I try, if I don't always succeed, to follow the rules I was taught.)
Mr. Leyhane - Just thought I'd play the part of your mother by adding my name and not just be another Anonymous so there would be a name of an actual person who saw the petition. None of the three websites, at least as of this morning, indicate what vacancies they are seeking or that joint petitions are being circulated. Even though it was at Imperial Oak Brewery's Oaktoberfest that I saw the petition, good old Anonymous' comments can be corroborated by numerous marzen beer lovers.
James Crawley is circulating. He was on the Barrido group petition but a conflict occurred when he and another prospective candidate both wanted to challenge Whiting. A truce was reached when the Whiting holdout supposedly agreed to get signatures for Crawley in another race, which must be a sub circuit otherwise he'd be on their slate petition. Crawleyforjudge and electgoodjudges domain names have been registered to Crawley if you do a reverse Whois search.
There's your corroboration.
November surprise ,,, in October.
But where are the countywide Irish women?
