COVID-19 numbers going up in Chicago... but the rate of growth slowed a bit this past week

You're looking at the City of Chicago COVID-19 Dashboard as of yesterday, August 7. New cases are up, hospitalizations are up, Deaths are creeping up and the positivity rate continues to climb.

On the other hand... maybe things aren't too terrible. Compare this weeks figures with the Dashboard from July 31:

From July 24:

From July 17:

From July 10:

You know, Thanksgiving was supposed to be this great big apocolyptic event, too. It didn't happen that way. So maybe the consequences of Lollapalooza will turn out not as dire as predicted, too. We can hope... right?

  1. Cook County is not closed because of fears of COVID. It is closed because Evans has no plan despite having 17 months to come up with one. And the elected circuits don’t care. They will just appoint more associates and make them do the Zoom hearings and enter continuance orders while the electeds philander with their nurses at their summer homes.
