Register now for Lawyers in the Classroom Attorney Information and Training Sessions

The Chicago Bar Association's Media and Civic Education, Inc. is hosting remote 2021-22 Attorney Information Sessions for the Edward J. Lewis II Lawyers in the Classroom Program (LIC) from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 12 and Friday, August 27.

For over 30 years the LIC Program has placed attorney volunteers into classrooms from 2nd through 8th grade, helping students to better understand the U.S. Constitution, our legal system, and law-related careers.

This month's sessions were created for both new and returning attorney volunteers to learn how the program will be administered using both a remote platform and in-person visits during the school year. The sessions include in-depth information about the program and curriculum, along with demo lessons that provide teaching techniques to help volunteers impart the lessons.

Click here to register for either session.

Registrants will receive an email with a Zoom registraton link within 24 hours after signing up. Following registration, volunteers will be asked to create a Google account or sign up for a Gmail address. This will be necessary, according to the CBA, to visit Chicago Public School classrooms virtually via Google Meet, should that be required or requested during this school year.

For questions about participating, email LIC Program Director Tiffani Watson or CBA Director of Public Affairs Ann Glynn.

The Edward J. Lewis II Lawyers In the Classroom program was previously administered by Constitutional Rights Foundation Chicago (CRFC), but transitioned in November 2019 to the CBA Media and Civic Education Inc., formerly CBA Television Productions Inc., the charitable entity that works to serve and educate youth across Chicago.
