After the mayoral and aldermanic elections, the one thing we do know is that the so called Cook County Democratic Party is DEAD. When Toni Preckwinkle can't win 1 ward or any substantial precincts, the Democratic party as we used to know it is Dead. So for now on, when the party wants to shake down judicial candidates for 40 k to support them, that won't happen anymore. Only a fool would pay anything for the Democratic party approval when they can't even support their leaders, like Barrios and Preckwinkle.
ReplyDeleteOf course this will make judicial elections more costly since the party isn't helping nor collecting signatures . It will take substantial costs to collect signatures and votes and direct mailing so most spots will cost over 100k to get elected. But when the chiefs of the Democratic Party demand contributions from candidates or sitting judges, its time to laugh at them . They are exposed and powerless and not worthy of any money.. Perhaps this is the best thing for judicial independence.
Absolutely correct about the party’s death. Run on your own! They cannot help that much.
DeleteTHE PARTY SHOWED IT STILL HAS SOME JUICE WHEN IT GOT COGHLAN DUMPED
ReplyDeleteAnon 5/18 is right. I said just about the same thing in my post in response to their last “road to the robe.” But let me add to it by saying that $40k buys you nothing. The mailer? You pay for 4 maulers even though you only need to win the primary and the last 2 are used for the general. If you lose the primary you can be confident that you don’t get a $20k refund. Just ask the 7 people who were slated and yet lost in the last 3 cycles. The “party” is a bunch of leeches who use judicial candidates as ATMs and proxies to wage war against their own political opponents. When alderman x hates alderman y they use judge candidate 1 against judge candidate 2 to score points against each other. Don’t give this vermin a damn thing! And for god sakes, don’t be talking to Burke or Madigan unless you want an express ticket to federal prison.
ReplyDeleteHey everybody, Jack is back from his long hiatus!!!!! Yeah!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Party had nothing to do with getting Coghlan dumped. That was JAPAC and Injustice Watch. But that certainly isn't stopping "the Party" from taking credit for an outcome that it had no significant role in bringing about. Conversely, I bet it will take no credit for failing to get so many of its past slated candidates across the finish line. Did you hear that Amendola, Brooks, Cushing and Derico? Because winter is coming.
ReplyDeleteDR KLUMPP DISAGREES WITH YOU ANON 5/20
ReplyDeleteEd Burke is hosting a competing event called "Show Me the Money Underneath that Robe?"
ReplyDeleteDr. Who is so much more insightful and entertaining. And s/he tells me that Klumpp is wrong.
ReplyDeleteToni can win you which Chicago wards again? Not even her own, that’s right.
