That's no misprint in the headline. It's a little late for persons now embarked on judicial races, with early voting starting in less than a month, to figure out what they can and can't do in a judicial campaign.
But for those thinking of 2016 or beyond, the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois Judges Association are holding a seminar on February 13, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m., at the CBA Building, 321 S. Plymouth Court, entitled "Do's and Don'ts of Judicial Campaigns."
The all-star lineup for the seminar includes First District Illinois Appellate Court Justice Mathias W. Delort, who toiled as an election attorney before going on the bench. Also speaking at the seminar are Second District Appellate Court Justice Donald C. Hudson, Cook County Circuit Court Judge Lewis W. Nixon, and Steven F. Flaum, a partner with Neal Gerber Eisenberg and former CBA General Counsel.
Current CBA President J. Timothy Eaton, of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, and Second District Appellate Court Justice Mary S. Schostok, the current President of the Illinois Judges Association, will host the seminar.
The seminar is free for CBA members and non-members alike, but persons wishing to attend must register to reserve a place. This link should take you to the page on the CBA website where you can accomplish this.
