There are two vacancies in this South Side and south suburban subcircuit.
In the race for the McGann vacancy, Judge Maureen Leahy Delehanty, who holds this vacancy pursuant to Supreme Court appointment, is being challenged by Scott Edward Lipinski, the son of former Judge Marcella C. Lipinski.
Delehanty filed for a 3rd Subcircuit vacancy for the 2008 primary, but withdrew. The Supreme Court thereafter appointed her to the countywide Riley vacancy in November 2009. Judge Delehanty was not a candidate in the 2010 primary but the Supreme Court appointed her to the McGann vacancy before her first appointment expired. Before becoming a judge, Delehanty was an Assistant State's Attorney.
Scott Edward Lipinski is an Assistant Public Defender, based in Bridgeview. He was a candidate for his mother's vacancy in 2010 but was ruled off the ballot. He has been an Illinois attorney since 2002.
Judge Thomas J. Carroll was unopposed in his bid for the McSweeney Moore vacancy when filing closed Monday. Two opponents have since filed.
Daniel R. Degnan, Executive Director of the Cook County Employee Pension Fund, filed for the McSweeney Moore vacancy on Thursday. He's been an Illinois attorney since 1995. Assistant Public Defender, Rosemary L. Costin, an Illinois attorney since 1989, filed on Friday.
Interestingly, none of the five candidates in the 3rd Subcircuit seems to have a campaign website at this point. Presumably, that will change.

Charlie Meyerson's Chicago Public Square had this yesterday, but it's not
the first time I've been a day late... or, for that matter, a dollar short.
