Judge Jesse Reyes is "Qualified" for the office of Circuit Court Judge. Judge Reyes was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1984 and was appointed an Associate Judge in 1997. Judge Reyes is dedicated to the law and is well regarded for his work ethic, integrity, and respect for lawyers and litigants. Judge Reyes served as President of the Illinois Judges Association and is actively involved in the work of the IJA and the legal community. In addition, Judge Reyes has worked hard to educate the public about the court system and frequently speaks at Chicago schools about the judicial system.
The Chicago Council of Lawyers says:
Hon. Jesse G. Reyes has been a lawyer since 1984 and an Associate Judge since 1997. Since 2005 he has been assigned to the Mortgage Foreclosure/Mechanics Lien Section of the Chancery Division. Judge Reyes is considered to have good legal ability with an excellent judicial temperament. He is praised for his courtroom management skills. He is widely respected for his extraordinary community service activities. The Council finds him Qualified for the Circuit Court.

Mr. MacCarthy is a very solid lawyer with excellent trial skills. He teaches trial advocacy across the country and lectures new and experienced lawyers. He is well versed in evidence, well suited for the bench. He is committed to public service and would be an asset to the bench.

Terry MacCarthy has been a lawyer since 1990. Since 2003 he has been a Supervisor in the felony trial division of the Office of the Cook County Public Defender. He is a career Assistant Public Defender. Mr. MacCarthy is reported to have good legal ability and is praised for being thoughtful and respectful while being a zealous advocate. He reports substantial community involvement. He teaches in the Mandel Legal Aid Clinic at the University of Chicago Law School and has taught advanced trial advocacy at the DePaul law school since 2002. The Council finds him Well Qualified for the Circuit Court.
