Just saying. It should mean that she has (at least) two votes at the slating meeting, at least when the initial votes are taken.

Lots of committeemen are plumping for this candidate, or that one, at this stage -- and a substantial warchest certainly helps the argument that Committeeman A may make on behalf of Candidate B, so it stands to reason that Committeeman A would lend his or her name to Candidate B's fundraising efforts. These efforts do not guarantee that, once the slate is made, and Candidate B is bypassed, that Committeeman A will not drop Candidate B like a hot potato.

Of course, conversely, being slated does not mean that all 80 committeemen will line up loyally behind the chosen ones -- search the archives -- there are plenty of examples of this committeeman, or that one, or several of them, dropping Slated Candidate X on Primary Election Day in favor of Non-Slated Candidate Y.

You may be right, Anon. Nods and winks may have been given. But we can't be sure. Not at this point. The only thing we can be sure of is that nods and winks (i.e., promises of future conduct) can not be enforced....Jack Leyhanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15884163579967286888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24546933.post-80850525785735315482017-07-20T15:53:24.035-05:002017-07-20T15:53:24.035-05:00Serious question. You know the list I am speaking of, where slating candidates already know they will be slated? What is the point of the dog and pony show of pretending to make it look to the media that there is a level of fairness about this process. In the case of Ms. Horan, committeemen are already coming out and hosting fundraisers for someone whom we are supposed to believe may have to run against the party. But alas, the ole wink and nod.

Let me be the first to congratulate Ms. Horan on being slated!!

PS: Similar to being told the results of a vote that has not yet happened, I will presume that if history repeats itself certain people with know the results of a "lottery" before it happens.
